Terminology is extremely important when implementing Abra Train. The following is a guide to distinguish Classes, Courses, and Programs in Abra Train:
1. Courses are the heart of Abra Train. They are a training activity covering specific content. Using college as a parallel example, HISTORY 101 and MATH 200 are courses.
2. Classes are courses plus a date/time. Where courses identify a specific content, a class provides details including date, time, instructor, location, costs, etc. Where MATH 200 is a college course, MATH 200.1 on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and MATH 200.2 on Tuesday/Thursday are classes. Employees are assigned to classes.
3. Programs are a collection of courses that must be completed in order to achieve a certain level of competency. Using college as a parallel example, Programs are similar to majors.
When all three are linked, Abra Train provides immediate and automatic updating to history and programs. For example, when an employee enrolls and completes a class, Courses Taken with class history. If the class relates to a course that is a part of a program, the Training Program detail is updated with courses/hours completed and remaining.
